The first update of February, 2010, brought a new feature to players: petlings. Petlings are small bundles of fluff that grow up to become either cats or dogs. Kittens are first available at level 5 and cost 1,000 coins; puppies are available at level 10 and cost 1,200 coins. You can only raise one petling (from fluff-stage to adulthood) at a time, and they need to be fed daily. Once you purchase a petling from the Garden Center, it goes into your inventory; at home, you can pull your petling out of your inventory and release it into any room of your house. A box will come up, asking you to name your new petling; names cannot be changed once they’re entered as of this time.

Finding the Great Hideeni, a mysterious solid black animal in costume who claims to be an expert at Hide and Seek, in your house, a friend’s house or in a Shop gives the player an opportunity to send a special gift to his or her friends. In Facebook, the availability of a gift is posted to a player’s news feed where his or her friends can see it and click a link to claim the gift. Gifts are available to the first three friends who click to claim them; any friends thereafter get a message telling them that all the gifts have been claimed and keep looking for another gift post soon.

There are 45 trophies that can be won by reaching various milestones. These are arranged in fifteen categories, each with bronze, silver and gold trophies. When the silver or gold trophy in a given category is won, it replaces the previously won trophy in that category. Trophies can be displayed in the houses of pets winning them, and cannot be recycled, gifted or sold, new trophies are here already, for the collecting of stickers.

My strategy hinges on buying expensive (gold) mystery boxes in bulk. I buy six gold mystery boxes at a time. This requires that I have a savings of more than 3,000 coins. I also have a goal for what I am aiming to find. Today, let’s look for one of the gold box mystery items that were released during the last two weeks: the yellow cab, shopping bag, school locker or armillary sphere. With this goal in mind, I purchased six gold boxes (round 1) and then opened them all. Inside the boxes, I found the charming hearts wallpaper (666 sell back price), shell picture (999), classic jeans (99), samurai helmet (999), dodecahedron lantern (999) and elegant bamboo (333). I didn’t find anything I was aiming to find, so I’ll sell all six items back. Let’s add the loss for buying the six boxes with the profit from selling all six items: -3000+666+999+99+999+999+333 coins = 1095 coins. Overall, in round 1, Momo had a total profit of 1095 coins. Momo was lucky this time!
