If a stove is empty you can begin a new dish by clicking on it. This opens up the Dish Menu where you can choose which dish you wish to cook. The cost of a dish is different depending on how long they take to fully cook and how many café coins you make from serving them. Dishes award experience, or café points, every time you complete an ingredient step. Be sure to complete all three ingredient steps for your dish to start cooking!

Plan ahead by cooking dishes that will become ready to serve the next time you check back in on your Café. Moving your mouse over a fully prepped dish will display its current cook progress. This is shown as a green progress bar, with a percentage to completion on the left side of the bar.

In order to reward you for having neighbors, the game will award you a daily bonus:

Note that there is currently a known bug affecting some people that results in no bonus being awarded, or the bonuses not awarding every day. No fix or work-around is currently known for this problem.

When you load the game for the first time, you are asked if you are male or female. This will reflect on how you will look as Head Chef of your restaurant. You will have a basic costume and an appearance that you can change at any time. This can be done by clicking on the shirt icon from the lower left hand menu, where the customization screen will appear and you can then easily modify skin color, facial features, hair and eyes as well as purchase new clothes and accessories with your hard earned Café Coins! You can also edit your character at any time by clicking it during the game.

Send gifts to your friends while playing cafe world and hope your friends send gifts back for decoration or to help with coins.

Customize your Cafe World character – In the beginning of Cafe World, a screen may pop-up to let you adjust the appearance of your Cafe World avatar. Here you can change the entire look of your character by selecting things like different styles of clothing, hair color, and facial characteristics. You can spend a lot of time on this or just go with the default look for your character. Many people playing Cafe World like to make their character appear exactly like themselves but others are much more creative customizing their Cafe World character. There are no rules to this so feel free to experiment with it and have some fun.

Remember that adding Cafe World friends is probably the most single important key to succeeding in the game. Adding more neighbors unlocks previously unattainable Cafe World items, helps you win more Cafe coins, and gain more Cafe points to help you level up.
